The Barça footballers with hat-tricks in the 21st century

The goalscoring ability of Robert Lewandowski has once again been demonstrated after his recent hat-trick against Celta at Balaídos. With this one, he now has four hat-tricks since his arrival at the club, a figure that places him in an exclusive group of Barça scorers who have netted at least three goals in a single match during the 21st century.

Messi, the absolute owner of the record

The undisputed leader of this ranking is Leo Messi, who accumulated no fewer than 48 hat-tricks wearing the Barça shirt. Among them are seven pokers and one repoker. His first hat-trick came on March 10, 2007, in the historic 3-3 draw against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, while the last one he recorded on December 7, 2019, in the 5-2 win over Mallorca. Most of his hat-tricks were achieved in LaLiga (36), as well as eight in the Champions League, three in the Copa del Rey and one more in the Spanish Super Cup. In second place is Luis Suárez, who recorded twelve hat-tricks, including three pokers against Sporting Gijón, Deportivo and Valencia. The Uruguayan scored ten hat-tricks in the league, one in the Copa del Rey and another in the Club World Cup. The podium is completed by Kluivert and Rivaldo, both with five, although two of the Brazilian’s came in the 20th century (against Zaragoza in the Copa and Real Oviedo in the league). Kluivert reached his five hat-tricks —including one poker— all of them in LaLiga: Villarreal in 2001 and Málaga, Tenerife, Mallorca and Alavés in 2002. Rivaldo, meanwhile, added three more in the 21st century: one in the league against Valencia and two in the Champions League, against Milan and Wisla, the latter in the qualifying round.

Neymar and Eto’o, also with four hat-tricks

With four hat-tricks is Neymar, another member of the legendary MSN. The Brazilian scored three in LaLiga (Granada, Rayo and Las Palmas) and one in the Champions League against Celtic, also including a poker. The same tally is held by Samuel Eto’o, author of three hat-tricks and a poker in a Barça shirt: one in the Champions League against Panathinaikos in 2005 and three in the league in 2008 against Levante, Valladolid and Almería. Now joining them is Lewandowski, also with four. In addition to the recent one against Celta, the Pole has recorded a hat-trick in the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen and two more in LaLiga against Valencia and Deportivo Alavés. He still has the entire season ahead to continue climbing this ranking. Before his display at Balaídos, ´Lewy´ shared the tally of three hat-tricks with Luis Enrique, who scored one in the 20th century (Betis, 1997) and two more in February 2001, against Athletic in the league and AEK Athens in the Europa League. Pedro also recorded three during his Barça spell: two in the league in 2013 against Getafe and Rayo, and one in the Copa against Huesca in 2014.

Ronaldinho: one in the Europa League against Púchov in 2003 and another against Udinese in the 2005 Champions League. Ferran Torres: two recent hat-tricks, one in the league against Betis in 2024 and another in the Copa against Valencia.
