RFEF - Barça mess: Lamine, uncapped!
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to release Lamine Yamal from his call-up to the Spanish national team, meaning the young player will return to Barcelona and will not participate in the matches against Georgia and Turkey.
The announcement was made official on Tuesday morning and has generated notable discontent within the federation. According to the statement published by the RFEF, the cause of the conflict lies in a medical procedure that FC Barcelona allegedly performed on the player without prior notification to the national team´s medical services, informing them only the night before, at the last minute.
Furthermore, the RFEF points out that it had "knowledge of the details of the same only through a report received at 10:40 PM last night, which indicates the medical recommendation for rest for 7-10 days". In summary, the Federation accuses the Catalan club of acting unilaterally in the treatment of the pubalgia that the player suffers from, and of informing the federative body late.
The reason for the disagreement
In the document released by the Federation, it details that "the Medical Services of the RFEF wish to express their surprise and discontent" because "Lamine Yamal had undergone an invasive radiofrequency medical procedure that very morning" and that "this procedure was carried out without prior communication to the national team´s medical staff".Furthermore, the RFEF points out that it had "knowledge of the details of the same only through a report received at 10:40 PM last night, which indicates the medical recommendation for rest for 7-10 days".
