The options for Barça to cut points in November

The opportunities for Barça to close the gap in November

The FC Barcelona faces the month of November with its sights set on recovery.
After a difficult October, in which the team suffered defeats in three of the five matches played, Hansi Flick´s side is looking to regain consistency and reduce the gap with Real Madrid, which currently stands at five points. Although the difference is not alarming at this stage of the competition, the azulgrana team aims to take advantage of the coming weeks to get closer to the top spot.

A favorable schedule in LaLiga

During November, Barça will face four LaLiga matches and two Champions League commitments. In the domestic tournament, three of those matches will be at home, a circumstance that the team intends to exploit to accumulate the maximum possible points. The first match will be this Sunday at 18:30 against Elche of Eder Sarabia, at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc. After the international break —the last of the year 2025—, Barça will return to action on November 22 against Athletic Club, in a match that could mark the return to Spotify Camp Nou. Finally, the azulgranas will close the league month on November 29 against Deportivo Alavés, the team that has conceded the fewest goals so far in the championship. The only league away game in November will be in Vigo, where the culés will visit Celta on November 9. On paper, this is the most demanding commitment, as Barça has only achieved one victory in their last four visits to Balaídos.

Difficult European commitments

In the Champions League, the azulgrana team will also have two tough away games. The first will be on November 5 in Belgium to face Bruges, while on November 25 they will visit Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, in what promises to be one of the toughest matches of the month.

Real Madrid with a more uncomfortable schedule

The Real Madrid will also not have an easy month. Xabi Alonso´s side will only play one home match —this Saturday against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabéu— while the other three will be away. After the match against the ‘che’ team, Madrid will visit Rayo Vallecano, a stadium where they have not won since 2022. After the international break, they will travel to Elche to face one of the season´s revelations, and will close November on the 30th in Montilivi against Girona. As for the Champions League, the whites will also have two away games: on Tuesday they visit Anfield to face Liverpool, who have suffered four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, and on November 26 they will face Olympiacos in Piraeus, a rival that fell to Barça in the previous round of the European tournament.

A key month for the azulgranas

Flick´s team faces a decisive November, a month that was challenging for them last season. At that time, Barça experienced its worst streak of the season in LaLiga: they only managed to win the derby against Espanyol (1-0), then lost 1-0 against Real Sociedad, drew 2-2 against Celta in Balaídos, and fell 1-2 to Las Palmas in Montjuïc. This time, the azulgranas cannot afford a similar situation. After a “shit October” that has complicated their aspirations in the championship, the month of November presents itself as a decisive opportunity to react and fight for the league title again.
