Iniesta: "The phrase from Lamine? The important thing is that the three points come"

The former FC Barcelona player, Andrés Iniesta, and basketball player Ricky Rubio were the protagonists this Friday at the ´II International Congress on Health Communication´, an event organized by the Hospital Universitari Vall d´Hebron.

Iniesta and Ricky Rubio, health ambassadors

The meeting took place at the Teaching Pavilion of the hospital and included a round table titled "The role of celebrities as health ambassadors". During their intervention, both athletes shared their experience as ambassadors in the health field and highlighted their commitment to raising awareness about mental health and the illnesses that affect thousands of people.

The words of Lamine Yamal and Iniesta´s response

After participating in the congress, Iniesta attended the media present, where questions about the upcoming Clásico against Real Madrid next Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu were not lacking. One of the most discussed topics was the recent joke by Lamine Yamal on the Chup Chup program of the Kings League, where the young player claimed that both Porcinos and Real Madrid "steal and complain." These statements, made in a humorous tone alongside Ibai Llanos, provoked a wave of criticism from Madrid fans. When asked about the matter, Iniesta offered a measured response: "It´s a comment to add a little spice, if there´s nothing more, to the Clásicos. Beyond comments, it will be a spectacular match. A lot of importance is given to what is said, especially if it´s before a match like this, but I´m not very up to date with current events." The former footballer added: "A piece of advice for Lamine? We all have our lives outside. I don´t like to give advice, especially when I´m not inside the team. If I were inside, I could speak with more authority. If the club believes that something is not being done well or is, those are things they will discuss internally. Each one is as they are, within the fact that there are always many things to respect. There will be jests that are meant to heat up the match and others that will say they don´t like it. Those are external things, and what really matters is what happens in the 90 minutes, which is what will determine who takes the three points. There are comments from all sides; the important thing is football. It´s the biggest match there is."

Full confidence in Barça

Iniesta also referred to the duel against Real Madrid and showed his optimism about the team´s moment: "They continue to arrive at a very good moment. The last match was a victory in the Champions League. A lot of confidence and hoping that the three points can come here."

Pedri, comparisons, and the future

The Manchego was also asked about the comparisons between Pedri and the historic midfielders of Barça, Xavi and Iniesta himself. His response was clear: "Pedri is Pedri. There are always comparisons, but in the end, he is making his own path. With the talent he has and the weight he carries in Barça and the national team. For me, he is the most differential player in what I understand a football player represents. I just wish he continues that upward trajectory, which will be very good for Barça."

The desire to return to Barça

Finally, Iniesta reiterated his dream of returning one day to the club of his life: "I have never hidden that at some point in my life I would like to return, but those are things that will be seen. If it fits, if I am a coach, if I am a director... As a player, surely not (laughs), but I hope I can return one day because this is my home."
