England surprises with the call-up: Rashford yes, Bellingham no

The English coach, Thomas Tuchel, has announced the list of players who will represent England in the upcoming international commitments, where they will face Wales on October 9 and Latvia on the 14th.

The list of call-ups has generated surprise, mainly due to the absence of Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid, as well as Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, the latter awarded as the best player in the Premier League in August. Bellingham had returned to competition on September 20 after his shoulder surgery and was a starter in the Madrid derby against Atlético.

Tuchel´s words about Bellingham

Despite his recovery, Tuchel chose not to include the Madrid midfielder. In a press conference, he explained: "I understand that you focus on Jude. He is a very special player and for special players, there are special rules, but for this camp, we have decided to stick with our decision to call up the same team, which also applies to Jude. There is no personal problem." The coach added: "There is also the situation that he has not reached his ideal rhythm with Real Madrid. He has not completed a full match so far, he has only started in one. He is regaining his best form. We had a call. There is no problem, he just lacks rhythm."

Rashford, present in the list

In contrast, Marcus Rashford was indeed called up. The forward is going through a good moment at FC Barcelona and will compete for a spot in the attack alongside Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon.

England´s challenges

The English team will first play a friendly against Wales, before facing the World Cup qualifying match against Latvia. England is a clear favorite despite playing away. Currently, Tuchel´s team leads Group K with 15 points from five matches, followed by Albania (8), Serbia (7), Latvia (4), and Andorra (0).
