Hansi Flick calls for attitude and confirms doubts about Koundé before visiting Balaídos

The FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, appeared this Friday at the press conference prior to the match against Celta de Vigo.

The German coach reviewed the current situation of the team, the physical condition of several players, and the need to step up the game to regain sensations after the last few matches.

Situation of Lamine Yamal, Koundé, and Eric García

Flick began by discussing the physical condition of his squad. He confirmed that Lamine Yamal “is better, but still not at 100%” due to the discomfort he has been experiencing from a pubalgia. The coach also admitted that Jules Koundé is doubtful for the squad, as he has not been able to complete the last training sessions normally. On a positive note, the coach highlighted that Eric García “can play with a protective mask” after his recent facial injury, and that Joan García is progressing well and could return after the international break.

“We must show on the field what we work on”

The azulgrana coach was clear in comparing the current situation with that of last season. “Last season we played at a different level,” he acknowledged, before insisting that the team must “show on the field everything that has been worked on during the week.” Flick wanted to emphasize the collective spirit: “The most important thing is the team, not the names,” he stated, although he did not hesitate to praise Gavi for his “outstanding attitude and winning mentality.”

Assessment of the rival and the team´s moment

Regarding Celta, Flick highlighted that the Galician team “is in a very good moment” and warned that Barça cannot let their guard down. “Talent is not enough; we need attitude and mentality,” he emphasized. He also pointed out that the team must improve its consistency and maintain concentration throughout the 90 minutes to avoid mistakes that have already cost points in previous matches.

The new Camp Nou and the support of the fans

The German coach rated the return to Spotify Camp Nou very positively, describing it as “a fantastic feeling.” He highlighted that the proximity of the stands to the playing field “will help the team a lot in the future” and urged the fans to keep pushing in difficult moments.

Objective: win before the break

To conclude his appearance, Flick made it clear that the match against Celta is vital to close the pre-break stretch with good sensations. “We want to go into the break with three more points and consolidate our position in the table,” he stated. The coach concluded with a direct message to his players: “We know what we want; now we have to see it on the pitch.”
