The Barça starts solidly in a controversial debut

Mallorca ended up with nine players in the first half after losing their cool following the controversial goal by Ferran Torres.

The match at Son Moix was already anticipated to be complicated, although the initial focus was on the chosen time in the middle of August, which raised criticism due to the high temperatures on the island. However, the problems for the Bermellones came from another avenue: the refereeing decisions and a Barça that showed no mercy.

The azulgrana team displayed the same energy with which they finished last season. Far from seeming like they had just returned from vacation, Flick´s men showcased a high level and confirmed that they want to fight for everything again.

Brilliant start for the culés

The analysis of the match becomes complicated because the Mallorca was left with nine players very early, after the controversial action that led to Ferran´s second goal and ignited the crowd.

The culés started with intensity and quickly Raphinha opened the scoring after a precise cross from Lamine Yamal, unstoppable on his side. Mojica never managed to stop him, and the young Barça talent once again showed his immense quality.

Mallorca reacted and created danger in Joan García´s area, who was still carrying discomfort from a blow in training. However, neither Muriqi nor Sergi Darder managed to find the net, and the score remained 0-1.

The action that changed everything

The play that marked the course of the match came in the 23rd minute. After a shot from Lamine, Raíllo received the ball in the face and fell to the ground. With the Mallorca captain on the pitch and everyone waiting for the interruption, Ferran Torres took advantage and nailed the ball into the top corner.

The confusion was absolute. The home players protested, believing the referee should stop the game, while the culés argued that the blow was not enough to halt the play. Munuera let it continue and the goal was counted.

At first, the azulgranas hesitated whether to celebrate, thinking it would be disallowed, but it was not. In just ten minutes, Mallorca went from being 0-1 to 0-2 and with two men down.

Two red cards in six minutes

The first red card went to Morlanes, who had already seen yellow for protesting and then fouled Lamine.

Six minutes later, Muriqi, in a desperate attempt to create danger, collided harshly with Joan García´s ear. The referee initially showed yellow, but VAR corrected it and ended up sending him off.

The stadium erupted in indignation when Raphinha made a very dangerous tackle on Mateu Jaume without receiving a greater sanction. The Brazilian could have caused a serious injury, although he ended up escaping punishment.

Lamine seals it with his personal touch

Despite playing with nine, Mallorca adjusted their approach and managed to worry Barça, who felt comfortable with the 0-2.

In the final minutes, Lamine Yamal faced off against Jan Salas, receiving a loud booing. The young star´s response was immediate: he scored a stunner and celebrated with his already characteristic crown gesture.

Barça starts the season as they ended it: collecting three points at a time. The two red cards made the path easier, but the controversial action by Ferran Torres at Son Moix marked the development of a very heated match.
