Alexanco made his debut with a header in Lleida
José Ramón Alexanco arrived at Barça in 1980 to strengthen the defense, and he certainly did. His mission, of course, was not to score goals, but the first one he achieved with the blaugrana shirt came shortly after he arrived. It was on November 19, 1980, in the first match of Barça in the Cup of that 1980-81 season, in Lleida, against a rival that was then in Segunda B. The blaugrana victory only materialized in stoppage time, when Landáburu broke the tie with a shot that went over the local goalkeeper, Jaimejuán. Two weeks later, at Camp Nou, the team then managed by Helenio Herrera secured their passage to the next round by defeating the Lleida team with a clear 5-1, with goals from Paco Martínez, Albaladejo, Ramírez, Quini, and Landáburu (the last two from penalties).
