The talks between De Jong´s representatives and sporting director Deco were conducted smoothly, both in face-to-face meetings and phone calls. The key meeting, reported by SPORT a few weeks ago, was crucial for both parties to come closer. In that meeting, the player´s agents conveyed the Dutchman´s desire to finalize his renewal as soon as possible and to facilitate the process, something that the club highly valued. The difference compared to past negotiations has been notable: with his former representative, Ali Dursun, discussions often stalled when they seemed close to resolution, causing tension and delays.

A deal closed in record time

With his new agent, lawyer Sebastien Ledre, the process has been much more straightforward. According to SPORT, the operation is so advanced that the exchange of official documents has already begun. De Jong himself gave his final approval, and the club´s general director, Manel del Río, was the first to sign to validate the operation. In the coming days, the pending steps will be completed. Only the signatures of president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, and other board members are needed, who will give their approval shortly. The expectation is that everything will be officialized within a maximum of one week.
